What is Child Alert?

It is a hotline for reporting child pornography to the Censorship Compliance Unit of the Department of Internal Affairs (all references will be linked to a definition of Child Pornography that explains this is sexual abuse of children).

In New Zealand this is the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) Censorship Compliance Unit.

How does the Hotline work?

If you see a site that you consider contains illegal images of child sexual abuse you can report it using the free Child Alert browser plug-in. ECPAT will process this for you and refer it to the Censorship Compliance Unit of the Department of Internal Affairs. They will assess the site and take the appropriate action to prevent illegal sites being available on the internet.
